Field 01 / session inventory
Every saved route needs a sentence.
A session map turns an operator’s sidebar into a maintained team artifact.
Inventory before cleanup.
MobaXterm supports multiple session types and saves started sessions in its sidebar. The official documentation lists SSH, Telnet, Rlogin, RDP, VNC, XDMCP, FTP, SFTP, Mosh, and Serial among the available session types. A team map should not treat every protocol as interchangeable.
Capture intent. Record the business task, not only a hostname.
Name the environment. Separate production, staging, research, and lab routes.
Assign an owner. Identify who validates the target and connection method.
Set a review date. Retire stale sessions instead of preserving folklore.
Folder logic is a governance choice.
By environment
Useful when change controls and support paths differ sharply between production and nonproduction.
By team
Useful when distinct operator groups maintain their own destinations and access patterns.
By workflow
Useful for research or support teams that reach the same systems for different tasks.
By protocol
Simple, but often too shallow on its own. “SSH” says how, not why.
